Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez – an intense read, but worth sticking with!
I was sent this book in the post by someone that…well, clearly knows my thoughts and opinions on the subject matter of this book, which goes a little something like this: ever thought this world wasn’t “built” for you?
It covers, in a crazy amount of detail – including research, case studies and stories – the many and varied ways women are forgotten and the huge impact this has on us all.
Let me see if this triggers an ‘a-ha’ moment (taken from the description on the book):
Imagine a world where….
- Your phone is too big for your hand
- Your doctor prescribes a drug that is wrong for your body
- In a car accident you are 47% more likely to be seriously injured
If any of this sounds familiar, chances are that you’re a woman
Winner of the FT and McKinsey business book of the year and I can see why. Reading it, it shone a light on so many aspects that are, well, “invisible” as we have just stopped noticing (if we ever noticed them in the first place).
I promise it is worth a read, but don’t expect to sit and binge read….(honestly, I am still making my way through it…one bit at a time….)
